Are brass utensils safe to use for cooking and serving?
Yes. Brass utensils with proper tin coating (kalai) are completely safe for cooking and serving. The tin lining prevents reactivity with food and helps retain natural flavor and heat efficiently. Our brass utensils are made using high-grade brass and food-safe materials.
-
How do I maintain brass utensils and pooja items?
Clean using mild soap and soft sponge. Avoid steel scrubbers. For shine, use natural cleaning methods such as lemon + baking soda paste, tamarind rub, or a brass polish. Keep dry after washing to prevent spots.
-
Do brass utensils require re-tinning (kalai) over time?
Yes. Regular usage may dull the tin coating. Depending on frequency of use, kalai should be done every 6–12 months. This keeps the utensils food-safe and enhances cooking performance.
-
Are brass diyas and pooja products durable?
Absolutely. Brass is known for its durability and long life. Bulkysanta brass diyas and pooja items are made from solid brass and designed to last for years with minimal maintenance. They retain shine and add elegance to spiritual settings.
-
How can I clean brass diyas after use?
Wash with warm water and mild soap. For heavy soot or oil stains, use lemon and salt or a gentle brass cleaner. Avoid abrasive rubbing to maintain polish.
-
Are table placemats washable?
Yes, depending on the material. Most Bulkysanta table placemats are wipe-clean or hand-wash friendly. For woven or fabric mats, gentle hand-wash is recommended. Always refer to product descriptions for specific care instructions.
-
Do cushion covers fade after washing?
No—Bulkysanta cushion covers are made using high-quality fabrics and colorfast dyes. For best results, wash gently in cold water and avoid harsh detergents.

What is the difference between Brass (Pital) and Copper (Tamba)?
Brass (Pital) is an alloy composed primarily of Copper and Zinc. Copper (Tamba) is a pure elemental metal. Functionally, this difference means Brass is generally stronger and more durable than pure Copper, and it features a distinctive rich golden-yellow color. While Copper is prized for its historical health uses (especially for water), Brass is the preferred metal for our heritage servingware due to its superior strength and lasting golden shine.
